Welcome to UFC 160 world which will take place on Saturday, May 25 from the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas. The pay-per-view event will be headlined by a heavyweight title bout that will pit two-time champion Cain Velasquez against Antonio Bigfoot Silva.
Velasquez (11-1) is coming off a five-round unanimous decision over Dos Santos. That fight was a hugely one-sided affair, with Velasquez earning scores of 50-45, 50-43, 50-44, while leaving Dos Santos titleless and with a badly swollen face.
In his last bout, Silva (17-4) defeated Alistair Overeem in a big way, earning a TKO stoppage at the 25-second mark of the third round of their UFC 156 scrap.
Velasquez and Silva have met in the past. Their May 2012 fight ended with a bloodied Silva falling to Velasquez via first round TKO.
Antonio Silva is in an interesting position following his UFC 156 victory over Alistair Overeem.
Bigfoot effectively ruined Overeem shot at the UFC heavyweight title. Instead, the Brazilian is now launched into the title picture.

Almost a year ago to the day, Cain Velasquez fought and defeated Antonio Silva.
It was Velasquez first bout since losing the UFC heavyweight title, and it wasna even close.
Now, 12 months after exiting the Octagon bathed in his opponent blood, Velasquez is once again the UFC heavyweight champion, and once again has his sights set on Silva. The hasty rematch just goes to show the volatility of heavyweight MMA, but if Silva expects Velasquez to be taking their sequel lightly, in for a rude awakening.
Realistically, Silva was never supposed to be here. His title shot belonged to Alistair Overeem, the towering Strikeforce, DREAM and K-1 champion who dismissed the Brazilian’s chances at every opportunity.
Of course, such flippancy is a dangerous road to go down in mixed martial arts, as Silva proved with his stunningly violent, video game-esque third-round knockout.
In the year since their first meeting, Bigfoot has consistently diminished his first-round loss to Velasquez, underscoring how significantly the massive cut inflicted across the middle of his face hampered his performance.
To his credit,Velasquez understands Silva perspective.
Decision or not,Velasquez systematic revenge left little doubt as to who deserved the mantle of Baddest Man on the Planet. It obvious Velasquez respects the Brazilian who once stole away his title on national television, but that respect only goes so far. Many expect that when it all said and done, the two titans will have fought upwards of five times throughout their careers,creating the next great heavyweight rivalry in combat sports.
Cain Velasquez and Antonio Bigfoot Silva are set to meet again at UFC 160 in May.
The meeting will be the pair second in almost exactly one year this time, with a title on the line.
In their last meeting, Velasquez absolutely destroyed Silva in what was one of the most one-sided beatings ever witnessed in the UFC.
However, having defeated two men considered far superior to him since then, Silva feels he earned a rematch as well as a shot at the heavyweight championship.
Cain Velasquez may have handed Antonio Silva one of the bloodiest defeats in UFC history last year, but that does not mean the UFC heavyweight champion is overlooking the massive Brazilian in their rematch.
Velasquez and Silva will collide for a second time in the main event of UFC 160, which takes place May 25 at the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas â€" the site of Velasquez one-sided triumph at UFC 146. That contest was notable for Velasquez complete domination of Bigfoot as the American Kickboxing Academy standout put Silva on his back early and punished him with an extended barrage of punches and elbows until referee Josh Rosenthal had seen enough.

Velasquez went on to recapture the UFC heavyweight title from Junior dos Santos, avenging his 2011 defeat to Cigano by blasting the Brazilian for 25 minutes en route to a unanimous decision victory this past December at UFC 155. Silva, meanwhile, rattled off back-to-back knockout wins following his defeat to Velasquez, first stopping previously unbeaten Hawaiian Travis Browne before wrecking the favored Alistair Overeem on Feb. 2 at UFC 156.
Though Velasquez plans to utilize a similar strategy in his rematch with Silva, the champion is fully aware that his foe will likely alter his approach in an effort to produce a different result.
When Antonio Silva enters the Octagon next Saturday for his rematch with Cain Velasquez at UFC 160, he will do so as a heavy underdog. Bigfoot first encounter with the reigning heavyweight champion was not a pretty one, as Velasquez planted the massive Brazilian on his back and battered him with a barrage of punches and elbows one year ago at UFC 160.
In spite of that result, and his current status as a 4-1 long shot, Silva nevertheless believes that he will walk away from the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas with championship gold around his waist.
As Silva mentioned, this would not be the first time he has been counted out against a favored opponent. Following the heavyweight one-sided loss to Velasquez, bookmakers listed him as an underdog against both Travis Browne and Alistair Overeem. won both fights by knockout.
With those convincing victories nestled securely in his back pocket, Silva now appears to be a far more confident fighter than when he previously faced Velasquez.
Though Silva admitted that much of his preparation and strategy will carry over from his first meeting with the champion, the 33-year-old plans to effect one key change in the rematch.
